The video was put together by the European Organization for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT) and incorporated additional data from both the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Something that isn’t visible in the video is how 2015 relates to past years. We found out earlier this year that 2015 was the warmest year on record and 2016 is likely to be hot on its tail. We already know that next year’s EUMETSAT video will include an odd Atlantic hurricane in January. We’ll check in next year to find out how the rest of 2016 goes.
